SSG Amber Kirby, was medically retired from the Army after 15.5 years of dedicated service. She has been diagnosed and dealing with PTSD, anxiety, depression and a host of medical issues that has her in and out of the Veterans Administration trying to get help for any of the above. Amber has been the primary caretaker for her mother, for years (who is currently diagnosed with stage three renal failure). “My brain doesn’t work like it used to, and it doesn’t adapt to new information very well either. I have been dealing with PTSD and other emotional baggage and if that’s not enough, let’s go through sleep issues and tests and studies in the mix to figure out what’s wrong with me. I am quick to anger and lose my temper fast, I have not laid hands on anyone but when I go off, I yell and can be viewed as a high risk for hurting others. I can never get any answers from my docs and I keep getting the run around for everything. I struggle to keep employment as I am taking care of my mom and trying to take care of myself. I forget things, I get angry, I cry, I flip out. I am so sick and sick of being this way and feeling this way and not getting any of the help I need. My dream is to work with and train dogs, being K-9 when I was active was the most rewarding job ever. I have slowly begun to build my business over the past couple of years, but with everything else weighing on me, it’s hard to go at it and get everything done, when it’s me, myself and I. I am proud and I am a fighter…how much longer do I have to fight to get the help I need?” I am asking the kind and generous nation that supports our veterans to help me get on my feet and help pay some of the bills that i have incurred due to my medical conditions and not being able to work. I need medical attention above what the Veterans Administration is providing and I need it now, not in a year or so. Donations will help me get quality medical care in the civilian sector so that I can have a better quality of life where I can enjoy it with my family of friends. Thank you savemyvet for helping me achieve the quality of life that I fought for “OUR NATION” while I was in the military, until I was injured.
